One of the nice things about the southern US, is that strangers smile at you every day. It freaked me out at first, with my introverted London sensibilities, but after a while I came to appreciate it.

I did that all the time in Toronto and once people decided I wasn’t really crazy, most of them smiled back. I still do it here but small towns are different.
