The ending was perfect.
The shaky-camera effect could have been a real detriment, but it worked so well in this case. I forgot about the camera – forgot about everything, in fact – and became more involved in the movie than I ever have with any other film.

I was curious about it. I’m not a film critic acolyte, but there is some correlation between critical reviews and the quality of my movie experience. Sometimes, this correlation is lower than it should’ve been: A Beautiful Mind was horribly overly rendered, in my opinion, for instance; and I love David Lynch’s Dune.
So, I hadn’t heard anything favorable about this movie; but at least, I appreciate the restrained promotional efforts, a la X-Files‘ Chris Carter’s “What you can’t see is more enticing” credo (at least in the early seasons).
The fact that the crew here enjoyed it is stronger indication that I will, too. So, thanks; now I have another movie I’m going to want to see before I hear too much more about it. Damn it.

Uh, yeah. That’s the way a monster movie always should have been made!
Commenting has ended for this post, but I'd still love to hear from you.

Just saw it last night … after getting over the motion sickness, I really started to just fall in with the group trying to escape Manhattan Island with them.
At the end, I could only say the same thing – “holy crap”
